These Terms govern your use of swimmaldives.org and participation in Swim Maldives events. By using our site or registering, you agree to these Terms.

1) Eligibility & accounts
You must be able to form a binding contract. For participants under 18, a parent/guardian must register or provide consent.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
2) Event registrations
Your place is confirmed only after successful payment and receiving our confirmation email. Entry limits may apply.
We may request ID and/or age verification. Category and age-group placements are determined by the event rules.
Transfers/deferrals (if permitted) must follow the deadlines and fees in our Refund Policy (below).
3) Medical fitness & risk acknowledgment
By registering, you confirm you are medically fit to participate, understand the inherent risks of open-water and pool swimming (including weather, water conditions, marine life, and collisions), and will follow safety instructions. You consent to on-site first aid and emergency medical treatment if required and agree to disclose any condition relevant to your safe participation.
4) Safety & conduct
You must follow all event rules, briefings, course instructions, time cut-offs, equipment requirements, and directions from organizers, lifeguards, safety boats, and officials. We may remove any participant for unsafe or unsportsmanlike conduct.
5) Fees, pricing & taxes
All prices are shown in Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) unless stated otherwise and may include or exclude applicable taxes/processing fees as indicated at checkout. You agree to pay all charges associated with your order.
6) Changes, postponement & cancellation
We may modify courses, schedules, or venues for safety, weather, permits, or operational reasons. We may postpone or cancel an event when necessary. Remedies (e.g., deferral, partial refund, or credit) will follow the Refund Policy.
7) Merchandise & shipping
For any merchandise sales, estimated delivery times are for guidance only. Risk passes to you upon delivery. See Refund Policy for returns.
8) Content & media
You grant Swim Maldives a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use photos/video captured at events for reporting and promotional purposes. If you wish to opt out of identifiable promotional use, email hello@swimmaldives.org before the event (we’ll do our best to accommodate reasonable requests).
9) Intellectual property
All site content (logos, text, graphics) is owned by or licensed to Swim Maldives and may not be used without permission.
10) Prohibited uses
Do not misuse the site or services, including: attempting unauthorized access; interfering with security; posting unlawful, harmful, or infringing content; data scraping without consent; or using the site to advertise third-party services without permission.
11) Disclaimers
Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
12) Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Swim Maldives, its directors, staff, volunteers, and partners will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for any loss exceeding the total fees you paid for the relevant event/order.
13) Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Swim Maldives from claims arising out of your breach of these Terms or misuse of the services.
14) Force majeure
We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control (e.g., severe weather, acts of nature, public authority actions, emergencies).
15) Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Maldives. Courts in Malé shall have exclusive jurisdiction, unless another method of dispute resolution is mutually agreed in writing.
16) Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
