Dhiraagu Malé Open 2025
Dhiraagu Male’ Open Swimming Competition organized by Swim Maldive is back for its second edition in 2025.
Male’ is the capital city of Maldives. A lively and urban city with a growing community of health-conscious citizens. Immediately outside North Male’, Rasfannu beach, is our location for Dhiraagu Male’ Open. While swimmers race, family, supporters and spectators can follow and support their athletes while walking alongside them, just a few feet away on the North sea wall of Male’. A unique swimming experience for swimmers and families that makes Open Water Swimming in Male’, a spectator-sport!
Dhiraagu Male’ Open is endorsed by the Commissioner of Sports and is the only Open Water Swimming Competition scheduled to be held in Male’ city this year.

- Date:
- Saturday, 24th May 2025 – 6 AM onwards.
- Categories:
- Competitive 1 KM swim (simple 500M out and back route along the seawall)
- Non-competitive 250M swim for Under 10 and swimmers who acquired the skills recently.
- Cut-off times:
- For 250M, 15 minutes
- For 1KM, 60 minutes
- Awards:
- Finisher medals for all finishers
- Overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd – Male and Female (in 1KM category only)

- Assistive devices
- Use of fins or other assistive devices may be allowed with the approval of Race Director and will be awarded a finisher medal. However, swimmers joining with assistive devices will not be eligible for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
