This Privacy Policy explains how Swim Maldives (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you visit swimmaldives.org and related pages, register for events, or contact us.

1) Who we are

Swim Maldives is an Non-governmental Organization (NGO) registered in the Maldives under Sports Act (30/2015), on 9th January 2019. Registration Number is 141-SC/CERT/2019/1.

2) Information we collect

  • Identity & contact: name, email, phone, postal address, emergency contact.

  • Profile & registration: date of birth, gender/category, age group, nationality, T-shirt size (if provided), preferred venue, prior participation, account credentials.

  • Health & safety (optional/where needed): relevant medical disclosures you choose to provide for event safety.

  • Payments: payment method, transaction references, bank transfer receipts or screenshots (we do not store full card numbers).

  • Usage & device: IP address, browser type, pages visited, cookies, approximate location, referral sources.

  • Media: photos/videos captured at events or submitted by you.

3) How we use your information

  • Process registrations, manage start lists, and communicate event details/updates.

  • Verify payments and eligibility (e.g., age group).

  • Safety management, incident response, and insurance reporting.

  • Operate the website, improve performance, prevent fraud/abuse.

  • Send service emails (confirmations, changes) and—if you opt in—newsletters or promotions.

  • Comply with legal obligations.

4) Legal bases we rely on

  • Contract: to deliver your registration and related services.

  • Legitimate interests: event operations, safety, preventing misuse.

We keep registration and transaction records for as long as necessary for operations, safety, accounting, and legal requirements. Photos/videos from events may be retained for community archives and promotional use; you may request removal where feasible.

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Your data may be processed outside your country by trusted providers. We take steps to help ensure appropriate protection consistent with this Policy.

10) Your rights

11) Children

Our services are intended for participants aged 6+. For under-18s, a parent/guardian must complete or approve registration and consent.

Our site may link to external websites we do not control. Their policies apply.

We may update this Policy. Continued use of our site after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
